The boundary runs a line from Chippenham in the North to Devizes and Upavon in the East, to Wilton, Mere and Wincanton, and then on to Shepton Mallet in the West. The Country is Downland and Vale, is well stocked with hare, holds a good scent after a wet spell and gives followers the chance to see excellent hound work and a special opportunity to enjoy the wonderful Wiltshire countryside. Contact the Wiltshire and Infantry Beagles by e-mail The Hunt: The Hunt was established in 1947 by the late Brigadier Charles Richardson DSO and the late Lieutenant Colonel David Rooke MC as a military pack called The School of Infantry Beagles. Hounds were drafted from Christ Church, Farley Hill, New Forest and Trinity Foot to start the Season in 1948 with 131/2 couple; the Opening Meet was recorded in the London Evening Standard. The North of the Country was hunted by the Trowbridge Foot Beagles from 1902 until 1942 and the West by the Downside Beagles between 1946 and about 1960. In May 1985 the Hunt became a civilian committee pack and changed its name to the Wiltshire & Infantry Beagles but retained its links with The School of Infantry, (now The Land Warfare Centre at Warminster), and its membership of the Army Beagling Association.
